SUMMARY:April Meeting 2022
DESCRIPTION:Join us Thursday\, April 7th at 6:00pm at Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen to hear Greg Willis\, Collin County Criminal District Attorney. \nCollin County District Attorney Greg Willis and his staff of 140 work hard seeking justice every day so that you and your families can pursue your dreams and enjoy your lives. \nTwice honored as a Texas SuperLawyer®\, DA Willis is also a statewide leader in criminal justice\, and starting next year will serve as the President-Elect of the Texas elected prosecutor association (TDCAA). \nDA Willis has also been recognized locally for his leadership in seeking justice. For making child predators face the consequences of their actions\, he was awarded the Child Advocate of the Year. For his leadership in bringing different groups together to support domestic violence victims and hold their abusers to account\, he received the Junior League Bridge Builder Award and the Community Legacy Award. \nFor his leadership in the prosecution of a terrorist intent on killing Stonebriar Mall patrons\, The International Association of Chiefs of Police awarded him their “Leadership in the Prevention of Terrorism Award.” \nFor his leadership in the fight against drug dealers and also for getting addicts the help they need\, DA Willis was selected as the only Texas Prosecutor for the National Opioids Task Force. He now has developed the first-in-Texas District Attorney-Led Opioid Treatment Diversion Program right here in Collin County. \nTo not just protect but also transform our community\, DA Willis created the groundbreaking diversion initiative “Burden to Blessing.” This opportunity gives nonviolent offenders a second chance to wipe their slate clean and acquire life and job skills for an even brighter future. He also partners with drug\, mental health\, and veterans courts to help get offenders back on their feet. \nWillis has served as President of the Collin County Bar Association\, as a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation\, and as a Rotarian for 20+ years. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County\, where he chairs the Partners Committee. \nHe was inducted into the prestigious Texas Prosecutor Society\, and has excelled in all four corners of our criminal justice system – as an assistant district attorney\, defense attorney\, judge\, and for the past 12 years as the elected District Attorney. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) Leadership Program. \nDA Willis is a 5th generation Texan. He’s a graduate of Baylor University and the University of Virginia School of Law. He and his wife of 27 years\, the lovely Jill Willis\, are proud parents of a son\, a senior at Texas A&M\, and a daughter\, a junior at UNT. Both kids have kept their parents forever on their toes\, and often\, on their knees. \n  \n  \n\nThursday\, April 7th\n6:00-8:00pm \n\nCottonwood Creek Church in Allen\n1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway\nAllen\, 75013 \n\n  \nCLICK BUTTON TO REGISTER\nREGISTER – APRIL MEETING\n  \n  \n
